Project Overview
Aqua Response was appointed to design, install, commission, and certify a new 9PE Graf One2Clean wastewater treatment plant at a National Grid substation, replacing an existing septic tank with a modern, compliant wastewater treatment solution.
Delivered entirely in-house, the project showcased our ability to provide complete wastewater infrastructure solutions for critical utility sites while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
The Challenge
Operating within a live National Grid substation required meticulous planning and strict adherence to health and safety procedures.
In addition to replacing the existing septic tank, the installation needed to withstand vehicle movements associated with the operational substation, requiring additional structural protection for the treatment plant.
All personnel working on site were also required to hold the relevant National Grid training and competency qualifications to work safely within a high-voltage electrical environment.
Our Solution
Aqua Response managed every stage of the project from concept through to completion.
Our scope of works included:
- Full site assessment and wastewater treatment system design.
- Safe emptying and decommissioning of the existing septic tank using our in-house jet vac tanker.
- Installation of a new 9PE Graf One2Clean wastewater treatment plant.
- Construction of a 150mm reinforced concrete protection slab designed to distribute vehicle loading and protect the treatment plant from operational traffic.
- Commissioning and testing of the new system.
- Final certification and handover.
By using our own specialist equipment and experienced engineers throughout the project, we eliminated the need for external waste contractors, improving efficiency and maintaining full control over programme delivery.
Health & Safety
Working within a National Grid environment requires specialist knowledge and strict compliance.
Our engineers successfully completed all required National Grid training and competency assessments, enabling them to work safely and independently on site while meeting the client’s rigorous operational and safety standards.
The Result
The project was completed safely, efficiently, and fully in accordance with National Grid requirements.
By delivering every stage of the project in-house, from design and excavation through to commissioning and certification, Aqua Response provided the client with a complete turnkey solution.
